welcome to science1blog. stay for while
title: knock knock.... yo!! yo!!
i'm currently back in JB again for a one week convocation break.. i'm just starting to get used to life in uni, but now i'm back after a mere 4 weeks of stay in USM ( 4 weeks felt like years to me)
anyway, here's an activity we had during our orientation week, and it is the one i enjoyed the most-- kem pimpin siswa, a program initiated after usm got their apex status.. so, we were like the second batch students undergoing this stint....
under this program, i learned many things i'd missed while i was a member of the Pandu/ Renjer puteri (everyday ponteng ma)... haha
the first being setting up tents... it's my first time ever camping, and sleeping in a tent!!! furthermore, we get free massage by the stones on the ground when we sleep-- no sleeping bags nevertheless, we could still sleep, because we were all too tired.
next is survival cooking... i remembered joining the renjers cooking while was in form 3 or 4... but that time tak jadi, because we couldn't keep our fire burning... so,here's my chance :)
but first, we had to get the chicken.. the rule is, the muslim boy in each group will slaughter the chicken, while a non-muslim girl has to catch the chicken.. and for my group, i'm not the only non-muslim girl, but no choice... nobody wants to do it, so no matter how, i have to 'grab' a chicken!! haiz....
poor chicken... having it's last photo shoot...
our team members in action... lighting up the fire is no easy job.. it took the boys quite a long time to light up the fire..
and hours later... the chicken was on a 'platter'(actually it's a chopping board, our leader wanted to make it French-style).. ready to be served..
and we cooked our rice too.. it was another idea of our team leader to lapik the plate with green leaves pluck from don't-know-what trees... we don't even know whether they are poisonous or not... haha no one dared to eat that rice anyway
After that, we have jungle trekking. we actually had one early morning (around 2am)... walking in the dark, hearing the sounds made by the insects in the jungle, we saw fireflies... and heard the sound of the waterfall.... and saw the glowing leaves along the trek..
but the jungle trekking in the evening was more exciting!! we had to crawl below some tree branches, walk through the mud.... climb steepy tree trunks.. and hills...and walk through the river... and finally get ourselves extremely dirty, mudy, and also smelly hahhaa :)our seniors haven't done this before, so we were the pioneers in this activity.....
walking in the jungle--many hazards here... furthermore it's slippery because it rained before that.. and the usual clumsy me wasn't spared, ended up slipping and falling down XD... so paiseh... getting muddy!!... here too, i encountered another embarassing moment... i nearly sinked inside the mud man!! so scary...
and this was the end of the jungle trekking-- the river!! we were able to wash some of the mud from our traksuits and shirts(for me) most of them only had mud from bellow their knee.. haiz but we couldn't stay for long, because they say there were leeches there... it was a wonderful experience for me... i have to admit, even though i was suffering from some minor injuries due to the fall... i was lucky enough to not fall deep into the jungle... really lucky >.< that's all about that camp.. as about usm, one word i will use to describe it is PURPLE :) notice that our t-shirts were purple.. even the hospital is purple... and the curtains/ drapes in HUSM are purple.. and most of the signboards are purple.... soon, the nurses uniform would be purple too... besides, each of us get a purple bag.. so, i guess that's all for now... :) all the best ^^ from: rachel lim comment? / top |
